mexico city trip quick facts:

  • Length of trip: 8 days, 7 nights

  • Total cost: ~$1200 + flights

RESTAURANTS

  • tacos de guerro: we went here every. single. day.

  • Pujol: tasting menu, book on open table as soon as you book flights - tables are hard to come by, ~$200 per person with drinks

  • Yerba santa: Brunch is delicious here, lgbtq+ friendly restaurant with good outdoor seating and great service

  • El Hidalguense: famous for roasted barbacoa

  • Toledo Rooftop: great for tacos and rooftop vibes

  • Maximo bistrot: all three seafood apps are incredible, don’t settle for just one

  • El moro: churro chain that’s been around since 1935 and open 24/7. make sure you get your churros when there’s a line of people waiting or at least a few people in front of you so that they’re piping hot :-)

CASUAL EXPLORING

  • Templo Mayor: downtown mexico city

  • Frida Museum: take a peak into frida’s life, her home and her artwork

  • mercado de artesanias la ciudadela: Great market for artisan goods of all kinds

  • lucha libre: Mexican wrestling match, $10 tickets. Best at the arena mexico

WEEKEND / PTO ACTIVITIES

  • Teotihuacan: sun and moon pyramids

  • hot air balloon: beautiful view of the city, worth the $130

  • Nevado de toluco hike: 4300M+ volcano hike, Not for the faint of heart but arguably the best experience of the trip

NIGHT-LIFE:

  • departamento: invite only edm club. one way through is via the doorman at gin gin (Alvaro obregon), he’s very tall and will walk you over through the side entrance.

  • baby: great music (mostly reggaeton), LGBTQ+ Friendly

  • rico club: bar that hosts drag shows, need to buy food with drinks, can only dance in your seat (but still super fun). if you’re nice to the doorman and servers, they’ll give you an invite to the underground warehouse club. Don’t misplace the invite card, you need it as a written pass to get in :-)

  • The apartment has portable ACS (MOST MX CITY APARTMENTS DON’T HAVE AC). fernando, the host, was extremely accommodating and the apartment is very well stocked! I’d stay here again.
